As a secondary school teacher, I have seen how technology can be an incredible teaching tool, but I have often seen colleagues use computers just the way they would have used overhead projectors or chart paper. In my current work as a graduate student, I am trying to gain the skills I need to develop my thesis as a piece of digital scholarship. I am a fairly adept student of technology, but I don't have the benefit of colleagues whose skills are beyond mine. In addition to my thesis project, I expect to be working on the development of a citywide smartphone application in Indianapolis this spring, so I am hoping that my participation in the Chicago 2012 THATCamp will help me to establish connections with others working on their own projects. I do have a sense of humor, but I am having a hard time accessing the server at the moment.
