Julie  Holcomb

I was a non-traditional student in college, finishing my BA at 30+), and a non-traditional professor. I have master's in archives and records management and phd in transatlantic history. My research and professional interests rarely fit within traditional disciplinary or academic boundaries, which is probably why I have so much fun teaching museum studies students. I am working on a traditional book (a substantial revision of my dissertation). In grad school and later as a museum director, I worked on a number of projects digitizing primary source materials for web access. I'm looking forward to going beyond those efforts so I am now at work on a digital history project using Omeka. I have supervised several master's theses and projects using some form of technology to present collections information. I've also led several technology workshops for our graduate students to provide them the tools to manage the research process. Last spring students recognized me with a Hafe award for most web savvy professor.
